Freezing, Overcrowded, and Filthy CBP Cells

Last week different sources publicly announced some of the horrors that immigrants go through in Border Patrol facilities. These immigrants were put in freezing concrete cells and given Mylar Sheets to keep them warm. These confinement cells were overcrowded and filthy with garbage, dirt, and even human waste!

The video stills and expert testimony released today reveal that Border Patrol holds individuals—among them traumatized asylum seekers and mothers with infants and small children—for days at a time in cold, overcrowded, and dirty cells that are designed to detain people for only a few hours. These cells were so overcrowded that some of the detainees were forced too sleep next to garbage cans and even toilets.

No human should have to bear these extreme conditions under any circumstance. Immigrants are just as human as citizens, they should not be treated any differently due to the fact that they do not have legal documents in this country.
